Meet Our Crew
Michael McManus
Owner
Michael is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. A native of Salem MA, he started his paint contracting business in 1980, and has over 40 years of experience. He’s a voracious reader and devotes his spare time to writing literary fiction. He feels privileged to have known and worked with so many fine and dedicated professionals in the painting trade. He lives in Beverly, MA with his wife Tina, and their two collies, Blue and Lexi.
Jim Gibbons
Project Manager
Jim began painting in 1994, and has experience in all phases of the painting trade. He traveled in Central and South America for over five years, and spent additional time in Southeast Asia. He has an interest in photography and wildlife and is an accomplished fine artist, winning awards in both North Shore Arts Association and Rockport Arts Association, where he’s an associate member. He’s also invented new tools for the painting trade, including the Manouvaroll and the Jim Shims. Jim lives in Ipswich MA and has been with McManus Painting for 5 years.
Jay Carpenter
Staff Painter
Jay is the youngest member of our team with thirteen years of experience in the painting trade. He’s the inventor of the board game, Moneytrain, and is an avid reader with eclectic interest. He also enjoys rock music, The New England Patriots, and the Boston Bruins. A North Shore native, Jay lives in Gloucester MA, and has been with McManus Painting for 8 years.
